John Tsarpalas Is Holding Government Accountable and Fighting for Transparency in Nevada
When bureaucrats were stonewalling requests for public records, John made sure citizens could view the information they have a right to see.
What kind of government did the Founders give us? Benjamin Franklin was asked this after stepping out of the Constitutional Convention in 1787. “A republic,” he answered. “If you can keep it.”
How do you keep a republic when the administrators of its bureaucracy are serving themselves—not the people—and are hiding the fact from citizens? Sometimes, it takes a group of dedicated activists to hold the guys in government accountable.
That is what John Tsarpalas and his team at the Nevada Policy Research Institute are doing. Their work improved transparency in Nevada and helped shine the light of day on what was happening in the state’s public sector.
John and I discuss how Nevada Policy brought together a diverse team—including a journalist association and the ACLU—to score a major victory for limited government.
We also discussed the growing movement of politically engaged parents, how citizens everywhere can improve their community, and what “prosperity” looks like in America today.
