The fentanyl crisis is worse than you thought
Derek Maltz explains the alliance between China and Mexican cartels that is causing the deaths of thousands of Americans each year
Mexican cartels “operate like Fortune 500 companies.” They are trafficking huge amounts of synthetic opioids into all 50 states in America, where they get into the hands of adults, teens, and children.
But it would be a mistake to call this a drug crisis. We need to call fentanyl and other synthetic opioids what they truly are: poison (that can kill a person with a single pill) that the cartels are getting from China.
Derek Maltz, a former federal law enforcement agent and director of the Special Operations Division of the DEA, explains the history and impact of the fentanyl crisis, and why U.S. law enforcement are having such a difficult time combatting illegal trafficking.
