Trades are up, college is down. A look at Aragorn's reluctance. JP takes on gender-affirming care.
Some good news regarding education:
I love seeing headlines like this. I can't think of a more tragic waste of talent than someone who loves to work with their hands getting funneled into the college-to-office pipeline. We need more trade school enrollees!
Here is a great thread from The Chivalry Guild highlighting the difference in portrayal of Aragorn from the LotR books and movies. https://twitter.com/ChivalryGuild/status/1648463680735162372
While the Peter Jackson trilogy was outstanding, it introduced reluctance in Aragorn’s character that was emphatically not present in Tolkien’s original vision. “The women who wrote Jackson’s script did not want Aragorn to be Aragorn: a man who knew he was made to rule.”
Changes like this are emblematic of a general societal attitude: that men should be plagued by self-doubt and eschew leadership.
And you can easily see in most if not all films that any man who displays ambition or has any confidence in his own worthiness to lead others is almost always portrayed as a villain or power-hungry buffoon. The Chivalry Guild does a great job in showing how modern culture does not want men to be MAGNANIMOUS, that is, to have the courage to seek what is great and becomes worthy of it.
I highly recommend reading the entire thread!
Jordan Peterson shared a link to a study that states the obvious: that “gender-affirming care,” aka mutilating confused children, does not lead to improved mental health outcomes.
